Ciara Rodgers left her house at around 7:30pm yesterday just before the car struck a parked car, flipped onto its roof and slid along the footpath.

No one on the street was injured and the driver of the car escaped without any injuries.

The incident has led to renewed calls for the longest street in Ireland to be made one-way and traffic calming measures to be introduced.

Speaking to RedFM News, Ciara Rodgers says she would be have struck by the car if she had left her house just second earlier:

"Yesterday evening, I was leaving my house to go back into my studio and it was about 7:30pm. And I think if I had left any sooner, it could have been quite detrimental. I saw a car flip about 20 feet in front of me, it hit one of the parked cars and flipped over and landed on the footpath and slid and it was actually a really frightening experience because I normally walk on that side of the road on my way down the hill."

Cork City Council has been contacted for comment.
