Midleton Chamber says 30 businesses that flooded last month are “in limbo” waiting for insurance companies to pay out.

Businesses in Midleton who can’t get flood insurance because of the town's flooding history, were able to apply for Government funding after Storm Babet.

The 30 businesses who have flood cover say they’re facing large insurance excess fees on top of repurposing and restocking their businesses.

Speaking to RedFM News, Adrianna Hegarty from Midleton and Area Chamber says some of the businesses with flood insurance are still closed:

"There are some businesses that have insurance already and they didn't think the process was going to take as long, between getting insurance assessors and waiting on insurance companies, and they don't know when they're going to get money and they need money obviously to get their stock and spend money on the premises, so there are a few people still closed"
