A second case of Coronavirus has been identified in the Republic.

The patient is a female based in the east of the country who recently travelled back from Northern Italy.

Guidelines on mass gatherings will be issued in the coming days, but the Department of Health expects St Patrick's Day celebrations to go ahead.

Travel advice has been updated to avoid all non-essential travel to four regions in Northern Italy.

Chief Medical Officer at the Department of Health Dr Tony Holohan says the risk of the infection spreading here is low.
