The Rape Crisis Network says specialised Garda training is having a positive impact on the number of people in court for rape.
There’s been a gradual increase in the number of people facing prosecution for the crime in the past decade, with a 12 percent increase recorded in the last year alone.
Executive Director of the RCN, Cliona Sadlier says the quality of service is increasing all the time:
"When a Garda sits down with a survivor - a victim, and the conversation they're having, the investigation and what the Gardaí can pull together, you know, that the quality of service is better and it's improving all the time and that's having an impact on what the DPP then has to work with."
