A 500 million euro package of spending to curb inflation has been described as not good enough by the opposition.
People Before Profit TD Brid Smith says not enough has been done on energy prices:
"But what they say they can't do is interfere with the market but they've done it during the pandemic didn't they? When they put a ban on all evictions and other measures that they took. But we need to cap the energy prices. We've seen the rate of profit from energy companies go through the roof in the last few years. And the fact that they keep increasing the price of electricity and gas is immoral. It's unacceptable and the government should intervene to cap that."
