The government's hate speech bill is being described as "troubling" by Free Speech Ireland.
The controversial law is expected to come into effect this summer.
It could see people jailed for intentional incitement to hatred against a person with a protected characteristic, such as religion or sexual orientation.
However, Free Speech Ireland claims the bill is flawed, with no clear definitions around gender or hate itself.
Spokesperson Sarah Hardiman doesn't think it's appropriate for the State to intervene:
"As a culture we can decide what is acceptable talk. We can condemn people for views. We police ourselves as a society by giving each other that feedback but you have to fundamentally have free speech in order to do so and tell someone 'That's a terrible believe. That's a terrible piece of conduct, you know?"
