Nearly 150 appeals against a decision to grant a mussel farm licence for Kinsale have been lodged with the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board.
The planned development by Woodstown Bay Shellfish LTD would see a 23 hectare site in the centre of the harbour, raising concerns of the impact on the area.
Speaking to RedFM News, local resident Marc O'Riain says they are not going to back down:
"The people who have applied for this mussel farm have picked the wrong town. This community is completely against it and we are going to take it all of the way. The Minister, within the act, has the power to overturn the licence if it is not in the benefit of the community. Nothing in the application process shows that it is of benefit to the community."
