16% of secondary school students use their phones for more than 6 hours a day.

They also admit over-use of smart phones is ruining their ability to focus.

A new survey has revealed that 83% worry they use their phones too much, while 38% use smartphones for 4 or more hours a day,

The Studyclix Student Survey also shows students are beginning to experiment with disruptive Artificial Intelligence technology.

22% say they've used Chat GPT to complete school-related tasks like writing essays and creating coding questions.

Co founder of Studyclix Luke Saunders says the problem is getting worse.

"The number has continued to grow. What we found in this particular survey, we asked students to take out their phone and look at the screen time app to see what their daily average is, and we found that 1 in 3 students spent 4+ hours on their phone per day, with a further 16% saying they spend more than 6 hours on their phone.

"That number has steadily creeped up over time."
