22-year-old Conor King died in April 2021 when he and his friends were camping near the blowhole in Garretstown.

Conor's friend, trained lifeguard Gary Barrett, climbed down 50 feet and performed CPR to try to save his life.

An inquest into Conor's death recorded a verdict of accidental death.

Conor's Mother Maura says she considered fundraising to build a fence around the blowhole where Conor lost his life after Cork County Council said they don't own the land.

Maura says urgent action is needed to prevent further tragedy:

"It's only like 500 meters from Garretstown. So any kid who wanders off from their moms or any teenager who's going on a little adventure with his body can go up there and fall. It should be fenced off. The rapid response guys said it, the coroner said it, I said it last year."
