Two people have had to be rescued after their 40ft Yacht got into difficulty off the Old Head of Kinsale in Cork this morning.

The Courtmacsherry All Weather RNLI Lifeboat was called out at 3:40am and the boat was towed back to the nearest port of Courtmacsherry.

The yacht was on the way from France to Ireland when it started taking on water.

No injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, the RNLI in Kinsale helped nine people yesterday afternoon where a person was unable to get out of the water by the Scilly walkway and a 18ft boat with seven people onboard had to be towed back to Castlepark Marina.
