Florists expect "evening rush" this Valentine's Day

Shops and florists will be busy as people head home from work this evening.

Valentines Day spending peaks between 4 and 5 o'clock according to AIB.

45 euro is the average amount someone will spend on a gift for a loved one.

Speaking to RedFM News these jewellers, florists and chocolatiers say it's a busy time of year

"Some engagement rings sold in the last few days so an exciting few days for some ladies across Cork and we found  diamond tennis bracelets and gold bangles are actually really popular as well this year" 

"People seem happy to come and spend, you know a lot to choose from, lots of different range of prices, tulips are really popular today and obviously the bunches of dozen roses as well"

"Loads of different types heart shaped boxes, different sizes and once it's all tied up with a  beautiful bow, it says I love you"
