Cork County Council has confirmed that in recent weeks, batteries and solar panels used to power speed detection signs and public lighting have been dismantled and stolen from locations across Cork County.

The Council says the batteries are essential for the proper function of this road safety equipment and say the thefts will jeopardise road safety in towns and villages across Cork

Cork County Council has advised that the stolen items are of little value outside of their intended use.
