A Cork hotelier says the planned 17% increase in personal injury award levels would seriously hit the hospitality sector.
A Cabinet sub-committee is meeting today to examine recommendations from the Judicial Council for an increase in the threshold.
Owner of Cork's Vienna Woods Hotel Michael Magner, says it would increase insurance costs at a time when the industry is already struggling to stay afloat:
"As it stands, the cost of doing business in Ireland is already the biggest challenge, so the prospect of Government approving the proposed increase is truly baffling."
