John Styles from Reardans on Washington Street was speaking after the Give Us The Night campaign said clubs should be allowed to serve customers until 3:30am.

Campaigners say Ireland has the most restrictive closing times in Europe and say an extra hour of service will be a welcome boost for the sector.

Speaking to RedFM News, John Styles says the tourism sector would also benefit from later opening hours:

"I think it's about time we aligned with what's going on in the rest of Europe. And I suppose really, that people get disappointed, ie tourists, when they arrive here and they realized as you know, I've seen tourists come to venues at around 12 o'clock at night thinking the nights just starting when the city is closed in less than an hour and a half you know, there is nothing else open for them, even if the season is summer time, but definitely there is definitely an appetite to go later."
