The Director of the Victorian Quarter says there will be "teething problems" with the new layout on MacCurtain Street.

The Tánaiste opened the new two-way system on Saturday - through which buses will now be able to travel westwards.

Bus Éireann says bus stop locations have been changed.

Meanwhile, local businesses say something needs to be done about the illegal parking on the re-vamped street - which is extremely busy at school drop-off times.

Speaking to RedFM News, Director of the Victorian Quarter, Shane Clarke says he hopes everyone will be familiar with the new layout by Christmas:

"School drop-off is an issue citywide. It's a particular issue here on Wellington Road. With any scheme we will have teething problems until people get used to it. I hope those teething problems last for as short a period of time as possible. And actually, come early December and come the real joyful Christmas spirit that we'll have around here, things will have evened out, and we start seeing it flowing, literally and metaphorically, the right way".
