The Government plans to give every household 200 euro off their electricity bills at some point in the coming months.

However, given the likely further increase in gas prices fueled by the political stand-off with Russia, the Government has been urged to do more to help people.

Micheál Martin says the next time they'll introduce further measures will be October's budget:

"The budget was a billion of an allocation to fortune from taxation and social protection measures. We've put in for the half a billion in respect of cost of living. And as I said, one can't chase inflation it becomes self defeating. So, as I said, an extra dimension would be budget time."
