The Government has been accused of 'inaction' on the national obesity strategy plan.

It's after plans for restaurants to list calorie counts on their menu's, were ditched.

Consultant Bariatric Surgeon Helen Henegan is concerned commitments to tackle what she calls the 'obesity pandemic' are slipping.

"That's the biggest concern is this one small  measure that on its own wants to enough to address obesity.

"It's just reflects complete government inaction and as you said a lack of commitment to, I suppose implementing all the other measures that  would be more effective including funding for obesity treatments, which includes adding funding for weight management teams and weight management services, including provision for bariatric surgery.
