A University College Cork lecturer says the flood which devastated Midleton in 2023 is an example of an extreme weather event which needs a coping strategy put in place.
Met Eireann has awarded over €1m to UCC researchers for climate and flood research.
Speaking to RedFM News Dr. Paul Holloway from UCC says his funding will be used to develop and upgrade plans for severe weather events as seen in East Cork:
"Midleton is certainly one example where there was a lot of rainfall in a short space of time, so we want to identify other areas and see what strategies can be put into place to help with those events."
