Farmyard animals won't feature in the traditional Christmas Crib outside Dublin's Mansion House this year.
A more interactive experience is being planned instead of the long-running attraction.
It's been described as a Grinch-like move, with calls to move the nativity scene to St Stephen's Green.
One of Dublin’s most famous Christmas traditions - the live crib outside the Mansion House that’s been running since 1995 - won’t happen this year
Lord Mayor, Caroline Conroy, says they’ll still have the nativity scene just without the usual donkeys, goats and sheep;
The green party councillor says they want a more interactive experience for families with the possibility of a full-sized sleigh, trees, and post box to santa.
John Carmody from the Animal Rights Action Network says cribs are a relic of the past and harmful to animals;
Former Lord Mayor, councillor Nial Ring, hopes the live crib can make a return next year;
Fine Gael councillors have called for a u-turn and for a new location to be found - while the OPW Minister Patrick O’Donovan says children suffered enough during covid - and that they should be allowed to enjoy this Christmas.
