The Chair of the Oireachtas Transport Committee says they want assurances that Dublin airport passengers will not face mass delays this weekend.

Senior management at the Dublin Airport Authority, including CEO Dalton Philips, have been called before the committee today to explain what went wrong last Sunday when 1400 passengers missed their flights.

Thousands more were left in lengthy queues outside and inside both terminal buildings.

Committee Chair, Kieran O'Donnell, says they'll be looking for guarantees that it won't happen again.

"We want to hear is they give clarity and certainty that passengers that have booked flights in and out of Dublin Airport over the June bank holiday weekend will be assured that they can get their flights and that they're not waiting an inordinate amount of time through security checks. And obviously the passengers that have missed their flights over the past weekend, that they are compensated in thorough fashion and quickly."
