The Army Rangers will work with their international partners at Kabul airport to help them get on flights.
Meanwhile a small group of Afghan refugees will arrive into Dublin this evening - the first to arrive here since the Taliban takeover.
They're among the 200 the government has so far agreed to take in under the International Refugee Protection Programme.
Minister Roderic O'Gorman says vulnerable people have been prioritised:
"This group of people are primarily those who have been working on human rights issues including the rights of women and girls. They are vulnerable persons and also those working with NGOs and European and international organisations. So we hope to see the first number of this group arrive in Ireland in the next few days. Obviously I think we've all seen the scenes and in Kabul airport. It is very difficult getting people out at the moment."
