Any Irish citizen who has yet to make it to Kabul Airport is unlikely to get out of Afghanistan by the August 31st deadline, according to a security expert.

That's the date when US President Joe Biden has committed to withdrawing American troops.

More than 10,000 people are waiting at Kabul airport, desperate to leave following the Taliban takeover.

36 Irish citizens are still in the country, with Army Rangers trying to get them on flights out.
