The World Health Organisation says global Covid-19 deaths are increasing and health systems are struggling to cope.

More than 170,000 people have died of Covid in the past two months.

The WHO says the actual number of deaths could be much higher as figures only related to reported deaths.

WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus says the take up of vaccinations and boosters has dropped.

"Too few people, especially older people and healthcare workers, are adequately vaccinated.

"Too many people are behind on their boosters, and too many people do not receive the right care.

"Fragile health systems are struggling to cope with the burden of Covid 19, on top of dealing with other diseases like flu and RSV."
