A man who threatened to kill a social worker because she had been involved in a court case in which his young relative was taken in to care is to complete a restorative justice programme prior to his sentencing. The 56 year old man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the child, appeared before Cork District Court having pleaded guilty to making death threats to the woman.

Over 40,000 Bruce Springsteen fans will descend on SuperValu Pairc Uí Chaoimh tonight. "The Boss" with hits such as "Dancing in the Dark" and "Born in the USA" is back in Cork with the E Street Band. Springsteen takes to the stage at 7 o'clock sharp with no support act and the venue will open at 5pm.
