Number of people being treated for cocaine abuse in Cork rises sharply

The number of people seeking treatment for cocaine abuse in Cork has almost trebled since 2016.

Last year there were 234 people treated for addiction to cocaine as their main drug in Cork.

The figures released by the Health Research Board show cocaine was the second most common problem drug reported nationally behind opioids.

While the number of woman reporting reporting problem use of crack cocaine has increased by almost 80% in the last three years.
