The Minister for Children says a lot of work is being done to get a childcare facility on the north side of the city back open.

The Before 5 Family Centre in Churchfield closed unexpectedly last September leaving 14 staff without jobs and over 100 families without childcare.

Northside Community Enterprises agreed to take over the creche and require over 360 thousand euro to renovate the site.

Speaking to RedFM News, Minister for Children Roderic O’Gorman says he’s working to find a solution:

"Between my departments, between Pobal between the Cork City Child Care Committee and Northside community enterprises to see what solution we can find to this particular location, so I don't have absolute clarity today, but I'm very aware of the importance and a lot of work is taking place in the background, see, can we find a solution".
