That's the message from a CIT student who has spoken out against knife crime following the death of his friend Cameron Blair

Cameron Blair from Ballinascarthy died after being stabbed at an incident at a house on Bandon Road in the city on January 16th.

A 17-year-old was handed a life sentence for his killing in April which was described by the Judge as a "vicious attack carried out with determination and intent on a defenceless young man".

His friend James McCarthy paid tribute to him online in recent days to mark what would have been his 21st birthday and also in a bid to raise awareness about the impact of losing someone so young to a violent incident like this.

Concern has been expressed about a spike in knife crime Leeside in recent months and speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM James says young people should learn from this tragedy:

"It's not just one life you're taking away, it's a piece of everyone who knows them"
