Yesterday they voted in favour of amending the County Development Plan

In January, the Council also voted in favour to vary the plan to include the 100 million euro Kildare outlet style centre, which would be located close to the IDA industrial estate at Killacloyne in Carrigtwohill.

However, since then concern has been raised about the impact the retail village would have on trade in the City Centre.

Cork Business Association have firmly opposed the plans, while Midleton traders have also voiced their concerns about the impact an East Cork centre would have on their town.

The Echo reports that yesterday's lengthy debate at County Hall saw councillors vote 43 in favour and 3 against amending the Plan.
