A man in his early 40s has been rushed to Cork University Hospital following an incident at Stryker in Carrigtwohill

Emergency services were called to the incident after 1pm this afternoon.

Garda Press have confirmed to RedFM News that the man in his early 40s was taken to CUH following an "accident at an industrial unit in Carrigtwohill" this lunchtime.

The man's injuries are understood to be serious.

The scene, which is believed to be on the roof of the building and is reported to have involved a fire, has been preserved for an examination and the Health and Safety Authority has been notified.

A spokesperson for the HSA told RedFM News that they are aware of an incident at the plant and have launched an investigation.

Units of the Fire Service from the City and Midleton, Gardaí and the National Ambulance Service attended the scene, while staff were evacuated from the building.
