Cork City Council did not expect severe levels of flooding today

Fire crews, the civil defence and Council crews are in Blackpool helping people out of their flooded houses and the village has been closed to traffic.

Glanmire is under water by Sarsfield Hurling and football club with access to the village currently closed

The City Council says fire crews and council crews have been deployed to a number of locations across the city to deal with the heavy flooding with parts of Sullivan's Quay heavily flooded and Parnell Place by the bus station

City Council Engineer David Joyce told RedFM News that the severity of flooding was not expected:

Locals in Rathcormac are furious and heartbroken after the village flooded today for the second time in a week.

Several premises on Main Street and the nearby Sunnyside estate and Quarter Lane were flooded this afternoon.

Claire O'Flynn who lives in Rathcormac told RedFM News that Cork County Council have not done enough to stop homes in the village being flooded:
