A Midleton business woman whose store was seriously damaged by flooding during Storm Babet is warning commerce in the town will collapse if the main street is flooded again.

Members of the public and traders attended a meeting with Cork County Council and the Office of Public Works last night to discuss plans for a flood relief scheme.

It’s expected the scheme may not be completed until as late as 2029.

Speaking to RedFM News Sinead Morrissey from Bertelli Menswear outlines what she told last night's meeting

" We cannot have the flooding on the Main Street again because if we do approximately 40% of businesses will not reopen and then you will have a collapsed town. I emphasised that at last night's meeting - we will have a collapsed town, Midleton will be useless, if this happens again. Hopefully that will give them a sense of urgency, we need a focus on Midleton"
