Glandore Village badly flooded along with the roads around Rosscarbery and Clonakilty

However it's understood that any damage to property in the region was minor

West Cork TD Christopher O'Sullivan told RedFM News that if the culvert in Rosscarbery was replaced the flooding could have been prevented

"Glandore Village was flooded and there was some damage I understand to a property in Glandore. Rosscarbery, it's a reoccurring problem in Rosscarbery there's a culvert there that badly needs to be replaced and we had localised flooding there. In my home town of Clonakilty at the start of the Ring Road, near the roundabout there, there's again some localised flooding which happens almost every time we have heavy rainfall. We are hot there are some very bad localised spots but thankfully not as serious or as bad as East Cork and Midleton in particular"
