A time-limit on gay and bi-sexual men from donating blood is being lifted today.
Until earlier this year, men who had sex with men had to wait a year before giving blood - before being reduced to four months.
That's scrapped entirely today, with every individual given an individual assessment instead.
Dr Tor Hervig, from the Irish Blood Transfusion Service, says the questions will be personal.
"We will ask in the past four months have you had a new partner or more than one sexual partner.
"The additional questions are during the last four months have you snorted cocaine or any other drug, and then you will not be allowed to donate."
