A school principal in Millstreet says there are not enough primary school teachers to meet demand.

137 primary posts are currently unfilled in Cork

Principal of Presentation National School in Millstreet Siobhan Buckley told RedFM News more teachers need to be trained to address the problem:

"What it absolutely says is that the system isn't fit for purpose that we are not producing enough 137 primary posts are currently unfilled in Cork,  951 in the country. I think we should be allocated 300 extra places in teacher training colleges a year until the situation is addressed."
