Irish Water is warning that hundreds of homes in Macroom could be without water on Wednesday night.
Irish Water and Cork County Council are installing a new water mains connection at the new Macroom Fire station, and as a result water outages are expected.
Irish Water says the works will take place from 11pm on Wednesday until 2am, and that it may take 2-3 hours following the completion of works for water to return.
A statement from Irish Water reads:
Irish Water, working in partnership with Cork Council Counci, is installing a new water mains connection at the site of the new Macroom Fire Station, Macroom.
Irish Water wishes to advise customers in An Gleann, Ardilaun, Carrigban, Clonfada, the Killarney Road, Millbrook Avenue, the Millstreet Road, Riverside Park, Ros Alainn, Sally Gardens, Sullane Weirs, The Avenue, The Crescent, The Glenties, The Green, The Hermitage, The Walk and surrounding areas that as part of the new connections works being delivered there may be disruption to water supply from 11pm on Wednesday 16 February until 2am on Thursday 17 February.
During these essential works, homes and businesses in the above areas area may be impacted by reduced water pressure and water outages. Following the completion of improvement works, the water supply may take 2-3 hours to return as water refills the network. Work crews will endeavour to complete works ahead of time to expedite the return of supply to the affected areas.
Irish Water understands this type of work can be inconvenient and will ensure our work crews make every effort to minimise any disruption these works may cause.
