Seamus Power has claimed his first PGA Tour title.

The Waterford golfer beat J.T. Poston on the sixth play-off hole to win the Barbasol Championship in Kentucky after both players finished up on 21 under par.

The 34-year old picked up a cheque for 630,000 dollars and a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour.

The win moves Power up to 113th in the world ranking and up to 69th place in the FedEx Cup standings,

It also secures him a spot at the PGA Championship, the Tournament of Champions and Players Championship.

Collin Morikawa meanwhile created a bit of history at Royal St. George's yesterday.

The 24-year-old won the 149th Open Championship on his debut in the competition after finishing up on 15-under-par, two shots clear of Jordan Spieth.

Shane Lowry finished up on 6-under-par and in a tie for 12th.

Rory McIlroy ended up on level-par with Padraig Harrington 4-over.
