Scottie Scheffler is the 2022 Masters Champion.

The American won his first major at Augusta last night, finishing on 10 under par.

Rory McIlroy turned in his best ever round at Augusta to finish second on 7 under par - Milroy carding a flawless 64 which included an eagle on 13 for his best ever Masters finish.

Shane Lowry recovered from a triple bogey on the third to finish third on five under par and Seamus Power finishing his first ever major in a tie for 27th.

Scheffler meanwhile says winning the Masters is a dream come true.

"I've dreamed of having a chance to play in this golf tournament, I teared up the first time I got my invitation in the mail.

"We were fortunate enough to play you're in college and you know I love this place. I love this golf course.

"If you're gonna choose a golf tournament to win, this would be the tournament I would want to win.

McIlroy chipped in for birdie on 18 to finish his round, with playing partner Collin Morikawa doing the same. McIlroy was thrilled with his round.

"It's what you dream about right? You dream about getting yourself in position. I wasn't quite , close enough to the lead I don't think, Scott he's playing really really well.

"But to play as well as I did today and then to finish like this I mean it's just absolutely incredible and you know, this tournament never ceases to amaze.

That's as happy as I've ever been on a golf course right there I you know, just having a chance and then with Collin, you know, we both played so well all day and for both of us to finish like this. I just thought it was an incredible I've never heard roars like it before on the 18th green It was really cool."

Meanwhile former world number one golfer Tiger Woods has confirmed he will play at the Open Championship this summer.

The 15-time major winner finished on 13-over-par at the Masters - his first competitive event since a serious car crash 14 months ago.

The 150th Open takes place at St Andrews in July.
