Ireland and UK submit preliminary bid dossier for Euro 2028

Ireland and the UK have formally submitted a 'preliminary bid dossier' to host Euro 2028.

Under the proposals, Croke Park and the Aviva Stadium have been put forward to host tournament matches.

Casement Park in Belfast, which holds just over 31,000, has also been included in the plans.

Fourteen stadia in total form part of the preliminary bid, which states Ireland and the UK have the 'expertise' and 'experience' to be successful.

It's also believed gaining the hosting rights will be a 'catalyst' for 'grassroots football development'.

The proposed shortlisted cities and stadia are:

  3. London                                London Stadium
  4. London                                Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
  5. London                                Wembley Stadium
  6. Manchester                         City of Manchester Stadium
  7. Newcastle                            St James' Park
  8. Sunderland                          Stadium of Light
  9. Trafford                                Old Trafford
  10. Dublin                                  Dublin Arena
  11. Dublin                                  Croke Park
  12. Belfast                                 Casement Park Stadium
  13. Glasgow                              Hampden Park
  14. Cardiff                                  National Stadium of Wales
