Cobh Ramblers have confirmed they have parted ways with manager Stuart Ashton.

It was reported yesterday that Ashton had been sacked with 11 games to go in the SSE Airtricity League 1st Division season, with Ramblers 8th in the table, six points off the playoffs.

The club have released a statement this morning confirming the news, and thanking Ashton for his work at the club.

The former Ramblers player had been in charge since 2019, and served as Stephen Henderson's assistant before that.

In the statement, Ramblers chairman Bill O'Leary said:

“As a club we are sincerely thankful for the time and commitment Stu, Declan, and James have given to Cobh Ramblers. These decisions are never easy to make and we didn't take this decision lightly.

"That said, as a board, we have to act in a manner that is at all times in the best interests of the club.

"We wish Stu and his team the very best in their next ventures.”

The club say that Ashton's replacement will be confirmed in the coming days.
