70 patients are waiting for beds in Cork hospitals this lunchtime: 48 at Cork University Hospital, 15 at Mercy University Hospital and 7 at Bantry General.
Across the country, 747 patients are on trolleys.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation described today's total as "shocking" and said it should be a wake-up call to the HSE, Government and individual hospital groups.
