Two further arrests following Killarney stabbings

Six people who were arrested in connection with a fight and multiple stabbings in Killarney have been charged and are due in court.

It broke out on New Year's Day, at Hotel Killarney - which is being used as a direct provision centre.

Four men suffered stab wounds, but were later released from hospital.

All six people who were arrested in connection with the fight are due before Killarney District Court this morning at 10.30.

A statement from Gardai read:

"Gardaí investigating a public order incident which occurred at a hotel in Killarney, Co.Kerry on Sunday, 1st January 2022, have made four further arrests as part of their investigation.

"The men, all of whom are aged in their 30s, were arrested earlier today, Monday, 2nd January 2022. They are currently detained at Tralee and Killarney Garda Stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

"There have been six arrests made so far as part of this investigation.

"The two other men arrested remain in Garda custody at this time.

"All persons who received medical treatment following the incident have since been released from Hospital.

"Investigations are ongoing."
