The outlook for the tourism sector in Ireland remains positive despite the global economic uncertainty with demand for European holidays remaining strong for 2023.

Figures from Tourism Ireland show three in four people expect to take a break in Europe in 2023.

The research found that scheduled air seat capacity to the island of Ireland for February next year will be 98% of February 2019 levels.

Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland Niall Gibbons says while there are cost-of-living concerns that may threaten tourism, he remains optimistic for next year:

"The outlook for the tourism sector from overseas is looking quite positive because the tree and the division will finish approximately 75% per year in 2019. This year 2022 we're looking forward on the international side we've got very strong aircraft capacity. We'll be back to 2019 levels in 2023."
