SIPTU has warned of further industrial action after the government failed to include the community sector and Section 39 organisations in the public service pay deal.

The union says they have not received a pay rise since 2008.

It says the workers provide vital services, caring for the vulnerable and maintaining communities.

SIPTU Public Administration and Community Division Organiser, Adrian Kane said the workers have no option but to take industrial action later this month.

"We are left with no option than to take to the picket lines.

"That's what we will be doing next week in the Taoiseach's constituency on September the 24th, where a number of organisations will be on strike, primarily around people who provide very,  very important services in the disability sector."
