Slow down, wear your seatbelt and never ever drink and drive is the advice from the Road Safety Authority.

They're encouraging drivers to take extra precautions this May Bank Holiday weekend.

56 people have been killed on Irish roads this year, up 7 per cent from the same time last year.

Brian Farrell, communications manager with the RSA, is urging all road users to stay safe:

"The roads are going to be busy. There is a higher risk of being involved in a collision around this time. Have fun, relax, enjoy your weekend but please don't forget about your safety when using the roads".
