It's claimed women's career progression and earning power is still being hampered by their caring duties.

The Oireachtas Gender Equality Committee is this morning discussing pay and workplace conditions, after the Citizens' Assembly published a report on gender pay gaps.

It's recommending differences in hourly pay between men and women should be reduced to 9% by 2025, 4% by 2030, and eliminated by 2035.

WorkEqual, which supports women entering the workforce, is appearing before Dáíl committee.

Founder Sonya Lennon says men should be speaking out about gender pay gaps too.
