There's no indication the number of Ukrainian refugees arriving here every week will ease off for the remainder of the year.
1,400 people are arriving from the war-torn country every week, stretching the State's accommodation facilities to their limit.
Yesterday, Gormanston Military Camp was opened in Meath, to allow up to 350 refugees stay in its short term accommodation.
Sinn Féin's housing spokesperson, Eoin O'Broin, says the Government should use vacant holiday homes to house refugees:
"Make a call to holiday homeowners offered them a 12 month license agreement so they would have legal certainty that we get the property back after 12 months and give them a modest administrative payment of €400 or €500 a month. There are 60,000 such homes in the state. If we manage to get between 5 and 10% of those are very, very modest target. You would have 3000 to 6000 units of good quality emergency accommodation outside of the housing system."
