The Minister for Health will meet with members of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party today in an effort to ease concerns over the development of the new National Maternity Hospital.

The project was paused temporarily after some Government Ministers felt the decision to lease the land at the Saint Vincent's site in Dublin was being rushed.

Stephen Donnelly claimed the development could be delayed by 10 to 15 years if the land was bought by Compulsory Purchase Order.

Fine Gael's Neale Richmond said there are still questions to be answered.

"I think there's quite a number of concerns that have come into my office from people about oversight, about clinical independence and really the detail of how this deal came about, and what does it mean for the taxpayer.

"I think it comes down to the detail and it comes down to the terms about why is it leased, and what sort of influence that will have."
