The Irish Red Cross is asking those who've offered to take in Ukrainian refugees to be patient while it works through the requests.
Over 15 thousand people have pledged to provide accommodation to those fleeing the war.
The organisation is expected to start getting in touch with potential hosts in the coming days.
James Murray from Mayo welcomed a family of 3 from Kharkiv into his home over the weekend:
They arrived on Saturday morning about half for having flown in from Budapest to Dublin earlier on Friday night. We've taught my dogs two kids beeline to the two dogs, they had to leave their own pup behind them and their hamster, which was a bit of a wrench for them but amazingly, even though it's a bit of a nice to make a beeline for the dog and Lira is a animal lover also so that was broke the ice for us anyway."
