Ovarian cancer kills 300 women in Ireland every year.
The Irish Cancer Society's encouraging women to be aware of the symptoms this World Ovarian Cancer Day.
CEO, Averil Power says women mistakenly think smears test for this cancer when they don't:
"They take false assurance from their smear test results. Whereas, actually what they need to do with ovarian cancer is to watch out for symptoms like bloating, abdominal pain and constipation. That, unfortunately, are often confused with IBS will can also be symptoms of ovarian cancer, and to go and talk to their doctor."
