The INTO is calling for clarity on the rollout of antigen testing for primary school children.

Rapid tests will be sent to the homes of close contacts of confirmed covid cases.

The teachers union wants to know if this means contact tracing will be reinstated in schools.

A meeting between the primary teachers union and department of education is due to take place later.

INTO General Secretary, John Boyle, says they have a number of questions for officials.

"We still don't know how they're going to identify the close contacts, because all the close contact tracing regime was taken out of schools.

"Does this mean that our demands for close contact tracing are going to be reinstated?

"We'll want clarity on that."
